For more information about using Pocketpedia to do searches in DVDpedia, check out this part of the Help Adding movies using Pocketpedia. The little computer icon at the bottom of the scanner window lets you know where the search is happening: blue = in Pocketpedia directly, green = send it to DVDpedia. Just tap the little camera icon next to the search field for Doghouse and start scanning your barcodes. You can also scan barcodes to do a search on Doghouse and add entries directly in Pocketpedia or to send the search to DVDpedia for more search site options.

Accessing several international movie sites, including Doghouse, the program's own media server, DVDpedia lets you retrieve information for DVD. (It's quite large as it contains all the covers regardless if Pocketpedia already has them.) Connect your mobile device to iTunes and select Pocketpedia at the bottom of the 'Apps' tab in iTunes. DVDpedia is a movie cataloging application that retrieves all information about your movies from the Internet via keyword or UPC scan, so you have time for more important things like watching movies. This creates a file with all the covers and info that you can then sync via iTunes. If the sync still doesn't work after that, go into DVDpedia, hold down the Option key and from the Help menu choose 'Export for Pocketpedia'. Click the result to open DVDpedia with the search result selected. This will narrow the search down considerably. To speed up the search, type 'DVD:' before the keyword. Open Spotlight and type the title of the entry. Select "Create Network", name the network whatever you like and then go into the Settings app on your mobile device and connect to that same network. Using Spotlight for searches in your DVDpedia database means you don't even have to run the program to find a particular entry.
If that fails, try creating a direct network on your Mac through the Airport menu (at the very top of your screen, the little quarter pie that shows the strength of your signal). The programs need a Wi-Fi connection to 'see' each other so make sure all your devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. my choice: DVDPedia for OSX Since DVDProfiler wont put out a Mac version, and I wanted a client-side program, I discovered this little gem that (forgive me if all the others do this too) lets me scan DVD bar codes in with my cuecat.
